For more information, see Formatting Types and Composite Formatting. The string representations of TimeSpan values are produced by calls to the overloads of the TimeSpan.ToString method, and by methods that support composite formatting, such as String.Format. The Other characters section includes an example. To include a sign symbol, you have to construct a format string by using conditional logic. ![]() For example, "dd\.hh\:mm" defines a period (.) as the separator between days and hours, and a colon (:) as the separator between hours and minutes.Ĭustom TimeSpan format specifiers also don't include a sign symbol that enables you to differentiate between negative and positive time intervals. Instead, these symbols must be included in the custom format string as string literals. ![]() Seinfeld received so much attention that its finale, which aired on May 14, 1998, is the sixth-most viewed entertainment television event, outside of sports, of all time. It became a cultural phenomenon by creating popular sayings and influencing viewers’ lives on a personal level. Over the years, the show developed into much more than entertainment. Photo credit: National Broadcasting Company (NBC). Jerry and his friends-George Costanza ( Jason Alexander ), Elaine Benes ( Julia Louis-Dreyfus ), and (Cosmo) Kramer ( Michael Richards) -are the primary sources of comedy and entertainment throughout the show through their incredible acting and relatable actions, based on clever and snappy writing. Each episode is merely different twists in routine days to add comedic effect. You eat and read and go shopping.” There’s no true plot carried from one episode to the next other than the relationships between characters, as well as inside jokes. The show was created by comedians and friends Larry David, who wrote many of the episodes, and Jerry Seinfeld, and it centers around the life of a comedian (named Jerry Seinfeld) and is consequently a “show about nothing.” This means that, according to Seinfeld, “nothing happens on the show. Witty remarks such as this one fill the 172 episodes of Seinfeld, an extraordinarily popular sitcom that aired from 1989 to 1998 on NBC and is now available on Netflix. I’m gonna’ let the money relax.” – Jerry Seinfeld in “The Stock Tip” episode of Seinfeld. People always tell me, you should have your money working for you. It is a TV truth universally acknowledged that the classic comedy series Seinfeld mastered its domain on Nov. 18, 1992, midway through its fourth season on the air. That’s the night that unsuspecting viewers sat down to watch “The Contest,” an innocuous title for an episode that turned sexual innuendo into an art form. The titular contest pitted Seinfeld’s core four characters - Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld), George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Kramer (Michael Richards) - against one another in a fiercely fought battle for bragging rights about which of them would be the longest to go without indulging in any self-pleasure. It’s an idea that emerged from the notebook of Larry David, who made a similar bet in the ’80s and, of course, emerged as the King of the County. Twenty-five years later, “The Contest” remains a masterclass in how to talk about masturbation while never actually dropping the M word, a feat that has elevated the episode to the ranks of the all-time great sitcom half-hours. But longtime Seinfeld director Tom Cherones tells Yahoo Entertainment that, back in 1992, it was just another day at the office for the cast and crew. “We didn’t know about ahead of time,” he says. “Like any other week, we got the script and read it. We had been doing the show a while at that point, so nothing Larry would come up with would surprise me anymore.”Īccording to Cherones, if NBC’s Standards and Practices department had been surprised by “The Contest,” they didn’t show it. Nor did they insist on any major changes in early read-throughs or on set. In fact, the episode that ended up onscreen is more or less the episode that David wrote, minus a few lines that made the premise more explicit - though not in a graphic way - than it needed to be. “In the table read, there was a line in the opening scene in the coffee shop where George is describing what happened with the Glamour magazine,” Cherones remembers. “He said, ‘There was tugging.’ That was obviously not needed, so Larry cut it.”Īsked why he thinks “The Contest” has endured for a quarter century, Cherones chalks it up first and foremost to being a “really funny episode.” “Michael did his best work in that episode in terms of the physical stuff just the way he moved was funny,” he says. ![]() On June 11, 2019, a new logo for the web browser was announced. The brand logo in the first design system was a stylized, geometric fox head, while the brand logo in the second design system was a simplistic, circular flame. ![]() The proposals consisted of two "design systems", each with both a series of logos for individual Firefox products, and a singular logo to represent the brand as a whole. That July, Mozilla revealed proposals to create a new series of logos for Firefox, saying that "as an icon, that fast fox with a flaming tail doesn’t offer enough design tools to represent this entire product family", and that they intended to design the family of logos with a blank slate, rather than tweaking previous designs. The project consisted of three teams, each with a separate design theme, being "fire", "fox", and "free". In 2018, Mozilla began an internal design project that aimed to create a new Firefox brand. The finalized 2019 logos for the Firefox brand, web browser, Firefox Send, Firefox Monitor, and Firefox Lockwise Firefox logo history ( Firefox 0.8– Firefox 69).In 2017, however, its logo was switched to an alternate color scheme of the base Firefox logo, changing the fox from red-orange to blue-purple, and darkening the globe. Several variations of Firefox have differing logos, such as Firefox Nightly, whose logo featured the globe from the base Firefox logo. The new set of logos also introduced a unifying logo to represent the brand as a whole, which was widely mistaken for the logo of the browser itself. After gathering feedback, the two proposed sets of logos were developed into a singular set, which was implemented in October 2019. In 2018, Firefox's developer Mozilla announced their intention to redesign the logo to accompany a series of logos, each representing a different product under the Firefox brand. Over the course of these redesigns, the logo transitioned to a more flat and textureless version. This logo was updated three times: in 2009, in 2013, and in 2017. While the initial design of the logo depicted a phoenix, it was changed to depict a fox after the name of the web browser was changed from Phoenix to Firefox. The Firefox logo depicts an orange fox partially surrounding and overlooking the Earth. This is another way to drink scotch whisky. Use big ice blocks that take up most of a rock’s glass and slowly melt. Because of the low temperature, most of the taste opening that results from adding water is rendered moot. Additionally, it will cover up some of the characteristics that give Scotch its distinctive flavour. But ice can be really helpful for those who are just getting into whisky.ĭrinks that have been chilled have less pronounced alcohol smells and fragrances, making them easier to consume. The concept of cooling your Scotch and diluting it with melting ice may offend some whisky connoisseurs. You can put it in your drink once it is resolved. ![]() Priorities first if you wish to use ice, always make sure it is nice, clean ice. Scotch that has been blended is, in Linstead’s words, “essentially mixology in itself.” #3. However, using a rocks glass is entirely acceptable when out on a casual night. This should catch and concentrate all of the whisky’s scents in the glass. The bottom of whiskey snifters is wide and tapers to the top like a tulip. However, Linstead advises sticking to the latter if you are drinking for taste. There are an almost infinite number of alternatives available, such as the Solo cup, rocks glass, and whisky snifter. Selecting a drinking cup is necessary when sipping Scotch neat. Just compare it to absinthe, where the hazy appearance of the water is actually expected and an important part of the ritual of drinking. A whisky that is cloudy is perfectly acceptable and won’t affect the drinking experience. However, depending on how the whisky was filtered, water can give a drink a hazy appearance. As Scotch ages in barrels, the alcohol content falls, so the liquid is normally added to the barrel at a level of 60 to 65 per cent alcohol by volume. If you’re drinking cask-strength Scotch, add a couple of drops of water to your dram. Water enhances the flavour of the stronger and more barrel-influenced whiskies. The “effect of unpleasant, immature odours when wood-aged spirits are ingested” is specifically lessened by water. The researchers discovered that alcohol molecules and the odors derived from the wood barrels are chemically suppressed by water. In an article that was published in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, the Society of Chemical Industry investigated this phenomenon. ![]() Water dilutes the alcohol’s potency while revealing fresh whiskey flavours. This is one of the ways to drink scotch whisky. Here are the four ways to drink Scotch whisky according to a Scottish bartender #1. If you do prefer cold scotch, however, fill your glass with ice rather than adding one or two cubes. Add water, if desired, little by little, to your taste. Traditionally, scotch is served with a side of spring water (tap water may interfere with the taste). Read through to find out how to drink Scotch whisky and soda for beginners. Whatever method you choose, remember to enjoy scotch responsibly. You can experiment with other mixers, such as lemonade or cola, once you become used to the flavour. When first experimenting with scotch, try to drink it with ginger ale or club soda. You can consume scotch neat, but many people choose to mix it with other beverages. “We're 17,000-square-feet on the 94th floor of one of the most iconic buildings in the world with the best views of the city. “We're blessed with an incredible canvas in this space,” Benolken said. 360 Chicago may also bring back the neighborhood takeover nights they ran in 2019 that featured performances and samplings to raise money for local nonprofits. What other things are “done” that have this root ig in them? When someone lit igates, she has a lawyer “do” a lawsuit against another person for the purpose of cast igating another, hence “doing” a form of punishment. For instance, let’s take the word “nav igate.” It would sound silly if this word were spelled “nav agate!” And of course, when a helmsman nav igates a ship, he “does” the wheel, hence “driving” the ship in the desired direction. Sometimes the root ag changes to ig so that the word sounds better. Agents often “do” the work that agitates others, for those details can be troublesome in the “doing.” It takes a great deal of mental agility to be able to “do” the necessary things to get published, and so authors will often leave that sort of work to the agile agents, who skillfully work their way through all the things that need “doing,” from contacting publishers to working out contracts. ![]() Authors have so many things to “do” when writing that they often employ agents, who “do” many things for them to help them get their books published. ![]() It seems like we always have things to be “done” which are on our daily agenda.
